In recent years KGA has acted in an investment banking role in the sale of companies and businesses to offshore and domestic corporates, with a transaction value of several hundred million dollars. Our experiences are such that we work closely with companies in formulating either a sale or buy strategy. In the case of a sale strategy we work with companies to effectively “groom” them for sale which is a process that can take several years depending on the circumstances. To assist in this role and transition the business through to the point where it can be sold we either accept a director appointment or act as lead advisor.
On the buy side of a transaction we assist with strategy, developing the capital investment model and assisting with public or private capital funding. We also consult with respect to management buyouts or where private equity partners are being brought in.
Sale transactions of note - we acted on the sale of ihug Limited to iiNet Limited, a listed public company in Australia and subsequently worked with other advisors on sale of the New Zealand part of the business to Vodafone. In 2008 we handled, in the investment banking role, the sale of RX Plastics Limited to the Aliaxis Group (the parent company of Marley) in Belgium.
